Loud taste. Sharp software.

The New Labs is a software company that has big opinions, high standards and ships in the open.

(01)  Vision Taste · Standards

Taste is not
a committee.

Good software comes from someone who gives a damn about every pixel. Most companies design by consensus until anything interesting gets sanded off. We go the other way: a few sharp products, strong opinions, and the nerve to ship something with an edge. They say there are only two hard things in software: cache invalidation, naming things, and off-by-one errors. We sweat all two.

(02)  Focus Four things

What we're into.

Four things we care about enough to lose sleep over.

01

Personal tools

Memory · Journaling · Wellbeing

Your life, remembered. A journal that actually knows you and holds onto what matters, so you don't have to.

02

Media with a point of view

Film · Audio · Writing

Short films and small magazines, made with an actual opinion and a high bar. Fewer things, better made.

03

Calm information

Reading · Feeds · Focus

The internet, turned down. We take the daily firehose and hand back something quiet, edited to what's worth your time.

04

Creative instruments

Music · Writing · Making

Instruments for people who make things. Built to get out of the way and leave only the work behind.

(03)  The Lab From the bench

From the
bench.

Coming soon shipped: false

Nothing has shipped yet, and that's the plan. New work shows up here one at a time, the moment it earns it. Nothing ships until it stops embarrassing us, so the bench stays public and the shelf stays empty.

Want a nudge when the first one is actually done?

(04)  Studio The setup

A software company with loud taste and the spine to back it.

No roadmap committee. No growth team. No standup that could have been an email. Just good taste and a workbench.

The work gets shared while it's still rough, out in the open. If something isn't good, it doesn't ship. If it is, you'll see it here first.
